Mickey: monitor shuts off for 1-2 seconds- some power issue?

the pc's are on 2 extension cords with each having a 5 power socket. multiple things are connected. the modem and 2 standing 16" fans a mini speaker amplifier and usb external drives. so many things. when I turn the fan off, the monitor flashes off for 1-2 seconds then comes back on. when I take the audio cable out from one pc and put it to another it does the same. so I put the monitor on its own extension cord, but that cord is connected to the main power outlet of the wall the other 2...
